Lulu’s first birthday was last week, and we had her party on Saturday: very low key, dinner with family – Mommy put together a little “I Love Lucy” theme…
If you are trying to create your own custom “I Love Lucy” heart, Google the Coronet font; it’s not an *exact* match for the original since that was hand drawn, but pretty close, don’t you think?
Mommy got this super cute outfit from The Tiny Closet Boutique on Etsy. I’m pretty sure Lulu should wear tutus All The Time from now on because she looked insanely adorable. She sent in the heart graphic and they digitized it to add to the shirt. Mommy printed that same graphic on iron on transfer paper to make my shirt.
The color scheme was red, black, white, and turquoise, with fun polka dots. The straws came from Cupcake Social on Etsy.
The cake! Mommy doctored up a Duncan Hines Devil’s Food mix, and made Magnolia Bakery vanilla buttercream frosting. It was delicious.
Birthday banner! Glittery cardstock, polka dotty scrapbook paper, and stick on letters. Easy peasy.
We tried to stick to a 50s theme with the food: the appetizers were pigs in a blanket and potato chips with onion soup mix dip. The main meal was a nod to a classic tv dinner: meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and a vegetable. We made Ina Garten’s Roasted Broccoli because it’s the yummiest ever. Mommy picked up $1 frames and printed the televisions on cardstock to hot glue on them.
You don’t mind a few more party pics, do you?

Awww, thank you so much! I try hard, and have a hard core Pinterest addiction, but often my results don’t match my plans. Did you see my son’s dinosaur tea party? http://lovetheludwigs.com/2012/08/17/dinosaur-tea-party.html
