The *idea* of snow is so much nicer than the reality… Snuggling inside under covers with hot chocolate, winter sports, and who doesn’t know the joy of a snow day?
But.
When the wind is blowing, and your toes are freezing cold inside your sopping wet boots, and Daddy is grumpy from having to shovel out the cars, and you can’t GO anywhere? Winter loses some of its appeal. Also, I’m not big on snuggling under the covers – snuggling is an awful lot like napping which we know I don’t do.
Speaking of sleeping… (I know, I know, do I ever talk about anything else?) I’ve finally done it – quit sleeping (mostly) entirely. That sleeping through the night thing that Mommy was so excited about a few weeks ago? Yeah, I didn’t really like it. I slept a solid 9 hours for a few nights and then decided that was boring. Now? I’ve reverted practically to my newborn ways; asleep at 9, only to be up again by 12… until 3 (!!!) when I give Mommy a break and go back to sleep – but only in her bed and only until about 4:30. No nap.
Mommy is going to have some sort of nervous breakdown. *Please* tell her your toddler did something similar at about 17 months and it’s only teething or some awful wonder week or a common phase or something and there is some end in sight. Because her only alternative thought is that I’ve been possessed by demons. Nocturnal demons.
So.
In addition to all the non-sleeping we’ve been doing around here, Mommy is busy trying to get her show ready (it’s next week! GAH!), and I’m busy trying to prevent her from getting any actual work done. Essentially Mommy and I spend the day in a battle of wills where she tries to get me to nap and I run around laughing instead. Sometimes she makes the mistake of opening her laptop to “just send a quick email,” or “try to finalize the playbill,” or something silly like that and I immediately run over and try to delete all of her files. Fun times.
Mommy’s show will be over January 23, so we’ll be back to our regular blogging schedule then, but, for now, please send all of your positive thoughts… and sedatives.
P. S. Mommy and are walking in a March of Dimes 5 Mile Walk on April 30 and we’d love for you to join us! If you’re not in the NY-metro area, it would make my day if you’d make a donation and help me meet my fundraising goal!
Snow is always awesome…from the INSIDE of the house. 🙂
Sleep regression is no fun – we had to re-Ferberize Matthew after a year.
And I am so over this snow!!!
Snow is fun for about the first week… never all that fun when you have to lug the LO through it. Worse when they hate snow like my LO.
I have only seen snow a handful of times, and it was fun for a day or so. I couldn't imagine living in that! You guys are getting hit pretty hard right now, and I'm sure it is NO FUN at all!
I'm sorry to hear about the non-sleeping. My kids must be narcoleptic because they have always been great sleepers, but I know how bad it sucks when we have one bad night. I'm so sorry you're dealing with that every night. 🙁 I hope it gets better soon.
I'm not sure what this “show” is (since I have been so out of touch with everyone for a while), so I have to go read some posts and find out…
Ahhh, you sweet boy. Quit torturing your mommy with lack of sleep!
Cute blog I am a new follower, feel free to follow back http://www.thatshakerofsalt.com
Zachary has some sleep regression too. It's so hard, especially after you've had a good sleeper for a long time! Don't give up hope!!!!
