This is not a cookie.

Even though I got the okay to start cereals from my pediatrician way back in December, Mommy had read up on alternative methods to start solids and wanted to try Baby Led Weaning (BLW). She talked to my doctor about it and he said it would be fine, so we’ve been waiting for me to show signs of readiness.

FINALLY, this past week, Mommy decided to let me try out some “real” food for the first time. I started out with string beans, but only really sucked on those. I had more success with some bits of potato this weekend, but my favorite so far has been the carrot I had Monday night. I ate almost half of a carrot all by myself!

Here are the steps to trying something new:

1. I put the food in my my mouth.

2. I make a face. This? This is what I’ve been reaching for? This is NOT a cookie!

Mommy has a long list of stuff I’m still not allowed to try: peanuts, wheat, egg whites, meat, strawberries, tomatoes, etc, etc, etc… I just want what everyone else is having! And I’m pretty much ready to drink ANYTHING that comes in a bottle – Daddy even pretended to give me olive oil!For now, though, I guess I’ll have to stick to the carrots…
