Summer Watermelon
Does anyone else have seasonal food favorites? Mommy spends all year waiting expectantly for apple cider in the fall, and the debut of gingerbread lattes for the winter at Starbucks. Daddy *loves* fresh summer corn, especially with his Aw Shucks Roasted Corn Seasoning on it. My favorite seasonal food, so far, has been watermelon. Mommy says I liked it last summer, too, but I don’t remember that. Daddy says I liked it so much that Mommy ate about 3 watermelons a week (that’s whole melons, not slices, folks) and he couldn’t keep enough of it in the house. This summer, I have rediscovered the love of watermelon for myself!
I even tried to steal some right off of Aunt Rebecca’s plate at our Father’s Day barbecue.

This weekend was SO hot, and Mommy and I spent most of it hanging out at Aunt Debbie and Uncle Eric’s pool, celebrating both the 4th and cousin Meredith’s birthday. Uncle Eric grilled both days and we had AWESOME fruit salad with the best watermelon I’ve ever had – it was really juicy and flavorful.
It went really nicely with the special mini cheeseburger that Uncle Eric made just for me.
I spent most of this very hot and humid holiday weekend enjoying watermelon and splashing around in my whale-tushie speedo and had a great time!
