Finally, today is Be The Change Blog Post Day. You can read more about it here and here , but the idea is that bloggers and social media types are uniting to raise funds for Pets Without Parents, a no-kill shelter in Columbus, Ohio. You can donate through the widget below and/or join in the BlogPawty on Twitter (April 21-22, 7 pm-1 am EST). Some of the prizes that will be given away during the pawty include a Deluxe Furminator, a $500 web design package, and iPod shuffles!

Twitter Home Tour Intro

Welcome! The twitterverse has been abuzz the last few days with talk of our twitter home tour/twitter house party and we have become a little intimidated! Before we continue, take any expectations you may have and ratchet them down a few notches… There were a lot of tweets mentioning trips to Hobby Lobby and staging and painting (!!!) and we did none of that. I have a feeling we’re about to make a bunch of you feel better about *your* homes. Here goes!

Entryway
Henry believed the Twitter Home Tour was all about him, by the way, so he followed us from room to room and tried to place himself in the middle of every picture!

Our entryway is newly tiled, thanks to Uncle Eric, which helps keep outside dirt and muck from getting onto our carpets. (The trek up the three flights of stairs from outside to our condo also helps!) In these pics you can also see Mommy’s pretty mezuzah, the poster her college roommie gave her, and our shoe bench. Some people actually use their shoe benches to sit on, but ours has Henry’s crate in front of it so he can’t steal all of our footwear and scatter it throughout the house. Henry’s leash hangs on the back of our door, and when he needs to go out he swings it.

Kitchen

Mommy loves our kitchen. You get to it by making a right after you enter the condo, and we’ve decorated it in a 50’s diner theme – fun! We have a payphone, retro table and chairs, and tin signs. Even my highchair kind of fits in!

Dining Room

Daddy picked out his special dining room chairs and we all love our globe chandelier! The dining room is through the kitchen and it leads to our deck. You can see Mommy and Daddy’s ketubah (wedding contract) hanging over the bar… and there’s Henry again!

Here’s our table with the leaf in it, all dressed up for our Passover seder.

Deck

Our deck is supertiny. It’s *maybe* 8′ x 4′ – and Daddy has packed it with an electric grill (not allowed a real one), a cafe table and two chairs, a 9′ umbrella, and, sometimes, a foldout chaise lounge. Too bad we rarely hang out there – there is no shade and it gets direct sun most of the day. Mommy tried to go some plants, but they literally fried.

I know there’s only this one pic here, but you’re not missing anything, promise. It’s really small.

Living Room/Office

Hang a left from the dining room (or come in straight through the entryway) and you’re in our living room/office. The office is Daddy’s corner – it’s got his desk and his music equipment – and my swing faces right into it!

Remember Uncle Eric who tiled the entryway? If it wasn’t for him, we would not have much furniture. Yeah, he built Daddy’s desk, and Mommy’s bookshelves, and our wall unit. His father built our coffee table and the sugar bin (which we use as an end table).

See Daddy’s pint glass/stein collection? Also, why yes, that is Neil Patrick Harris on Jeopardy on our tv screen. And yes, Mommy is a big nerd our books and dvds are in alphabetical order – the nonfiction section is on the other bookshelves (behind the loveseat, by Daddy’s desk). True story.

Hall Bathroom

The hall bathroom needs a lot of work, so not many pics here – essentially the whole things needs to be redone. But Mommy really likes her shower curtain, and she has matching guest towels and a candle jar. Also, Molly lives here.

Nursery

My room is *definitely* the nicest room in the house. Everything in here is filled with so much love! Mommy got the quilt and my custom crib bedding on Etsy, Mommy’s friend Jane painted the shade, Aunt Angela made the valance, Coach made the wall art and my book rack, and Grammy knit the afghan. The dressers were my great-grandmother’s and the rocker is a genuine antique – it belonged to my great-great-grandmother! LOTS of pictures in this section…

Nice, right?

Master Bedroom

Mommy and Daddy’s room will have to wait ’til later to be posted – Mommy didn’t get a chance to take pictures during the daytime (I kept her busy!) and there’s really not enough light in there to get good shots at night. Also, she’d like to take care of laundry mountain before showing off…

Master Bathroom

Uncle Eric worked hard in here, too. In one weekend, he and Coach gutted the old bathroom, re-sheet-rocked, painted, fixed the tile, and put in the new vanity and mirror. This, again, is a very small room, so limited pictures.

That’s it! That’s our house – I hope you enjoyed the tour! You can pat yourself on the back; you’ve reached the end of this EPIC post! Nothing left to do, but

Once upon a time, @MomNom, @jennandtonica, @emmie_bee, @heirtoblair, and @ColeEmmett were talking about home decor on Twitter. We thought it would be so great to be able to see each other’s homes! A *bunch* of other tweeps joined in, @Alena29 put together a terrific button, and #twitterhometour (or #twitterhouseparty) was born! Feel free to join us – add a link to your home tour post (pictures, video, or both!) below.

  11. I am in love with your nursery! Best design theme ever! Have you ever been to the Eric Carle Museum up in Mass? Get your mommy to take you soon!

I have a nosey-parker suggestion for you. Daddy's dvd collection got out of hand (700+) and instead of keeping them all on the bookshelves he put them in media cases. Alphabetically of course. So now we don't have to look at them. Maybe your daddy would agree to that too?
