How to Add Words to Your Photos

So. Yesterday was my First Day of School and Lulu’s 8 month-day, both of which need full posts – PLUS I still haven’t told you all about how I visited DINOSAURS… but I’m tired, so those will wait another day.

Instead, I’m gonna throw up a quick tutorial here; yesterday, I posted my back-to-school pic on Facebook, and 3 different people asked me where I got the sign I was holding so I’m going to tell you a secret: I was only holding a blank piece of paper! Mommy added the title with *free* editing software.

I *know* that many of you already know how to do this, but for those who might be wondering, I’ll break it down for you:

  1. Take a picture with some blank space on it; I held up a piece of paper, but my friend, Trey, didn’t want to hold a page, so Mommy added the title for his pic on the background.
  2. Open your photo-editing software. For the purposes of this tutorial, I’ll show you Paint.net which is free and pretty user friendly.  You can download it HERE.
  3. Open the picture you took.
  4. Add your words!  (Pick the “Font” tool, choose your font and color, place your cursor & type! (You can use stock fonts, but if you are looking for something special or unique, I have good luck at dafont.com.)
  5. Save your masterpiece.

*For some reason, the formatting is really wonky as I’m drafting this, but the HTML & the Preview look okay, so hopefully it’s clear when it’s published. If not, please let me know!

Here’s Trey’s Back to School pic, before & after:

Have fun!
