#46 – 1000 Awesome Things

West Point Concerts

Mommy and Daddy both grew up in the same county that we live in now – about half an hour from the US Military Academy at West Point. For about 10 years now, Mommy’s family has been going to their annual 4th of July concerts and fireworks displays. And, over Labor Day weekend, the concert band performs the 1812 Overture accompanied by real cannon fire.

Awesome.

West Point doesn’t stop at just those two concerts, though (neither of which I’ve been to, yet – fireworks are still a little intense for me). There is a free, outdoor concert nearly *every* Sunday evening over the summer!

Trophy Point is a natural amphitheater overlooking the Hudson River, and the perfect spot for a picnic. Last Sunday, we packed snacks and sandwiches and met Grammy Boo, Coach, Uncle Eric, Aunt Debbie, and Cousin Amy for a special children’s concert. And, since dogs are allowed, Henry got to come, too!

Maybe next time, Mommy will break out the camera…

  1. My husband is a West Point grad. We make it up there for football games in the fall. We love it up there!
