Buon Natale

I am hoping with this vacation week that Mommy and I can kick our colds and get back into the swing of things – we have some fun adventures planned, but this week we have just had no energy. (Actually, that is not at all true. Mommy has no energy. I? am not fazed at all by my drippy nose. Also, for the record, I’m not picking my nose in that picture to the left – just scratching an itch… Did anyone see that episode of Seinfeld?)

Anyway. It has been a long, difficult week and Mommy is just glad we’ve made it to the end of it, so, in lieu of a “real” post today, we’ll offer you Mommy’s favorite Christmas carol:

You’re welcome.

…and, since it is my 16 month-day, a *very* half-hearted check-in with the BabyCenter Milestone Chart.

Mastered Skills (most kids can do)

  • Turns the pages of a book – Yes. The same two books, mostly. All. the. time.
  • Has temper tantrums when frustrated – Yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes. I mean… a little.
  • Becomes attached to a soft toy or other object – Does Mommy’s leg count? Because, really? I am the tiniest bit of a Mama’s Boy. (My immediate family, reading this, just snorted. I *might* be known to have most of those temper tantrums from the previous milestone when I can’t be holding onto some part of Mommy’s body.)

Emerging Skills (half of kids can do)

  • Discovers the joy of climbing – Really? Discovers? This is an “emerging skill?
  • Stacks three blocks – And then promptly knocks ’em all down!
  • Uses a spoon or fork – Well, I try anyway…
  • Learns the correct way to use common objects (e.g. the telephone) – Mommy won’t really let me use it as much as I’d like, but I can talk on the phone, and I know how to do all sorts of tricks with the remote control. Mommy didn’t even know we HAD picture-in-picture!

Advanced Skills (a few kids can do)

  • Takes off one piece of clothing by himself. – I’m not sure if accessories count – I can take off my hat, my mittens, and my shoes & socks. I took off my shoe *somewhere* in the mall yesterday and Mommy had to buy me a whole new pair…

  • Gets finicky about food – What do you mean I can’t be on the all-cookies all-the-time diet?
  • Switches from two naps to one – Seriously? Really, seriously? I am a non-napping evil GENIUS because Mommy’s been lucky if I take even that *one* nap for months now, let alone two, Two naps? HA.

Merry Christmas to all of my family and friends! I hope you have a happy and healthy holiday weekend – see you next week!
