Mommy is kind of a crazy person.

I am only 18 months old. Well, 18 months and 13 days. So let’s say 18 and half months.

Anyway.

I am 18 months old (and a half!) and Mommy is beginning to plan my 2nd birthday party.

I’m going to blame this v-e-r-y long winter and the fact that we are oh-so bored lately; the temperature has been warming up, but the playgrounds are still soggy messes from melting snow and torrential downpours, and there is only so much we can do at home. The same old indoor activities are getting really old – how often can you run around the same patch of carpet in front of H&M at the mall? (For the record, the train table at Barnes & Noble has not and will not ever lose its appeal, but Mommy doesn’t seem to want to hang out there as much as I do.)

Mommy and I dream of warmer days and playing outside, and Mommy is starting to envision cute little themes and decorations and an invitation list. I blame Suzanne for being a party overachiever and everyone who has ever contributed to Party Like a Kid for setting the bar way too high.

Also? Mommy is about as crafty as a rock, so 6 months sounds about right to attempt cutesy little DIY touches like this great banner:

Yeah, I don’t think we’ll be going with a Toy Story theme…

  1. I don't think it's crazy! Birthday parties are fun to plan and definitely help on dreary winter days….says the mommy that has been planning her daughter's 1st birthday, still 5 months away, for about 6 months now!

  2. I don't think Mommy is crazy either. I have been planning Hannah's 1st birthday (in May) & Hailey's 3rd birthday (in June) since December. It's fun & makes it less stressful because you're not doing everything at the last minute. 🙂

  3. ooo! oooo! Can I come play photographer at your party? Since I assume Mommy will be kinda busy that day.

  4. I soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo should have recruited your mommy to plan Mason's birthday party! *big sad sigh*

I wish our Barnes and Noble had a train!! Oh wait, let me change that to I wish we had a Barnes and Noble!!

We're desperately awaiting spring here too!!

  5. oh, but you babies have no idea how much planning goes into your parties! your mama is smart, i wish i would have started henry's party planning way sooner than i had!

  6. Nicholas should know the family rule by now! He can't talk about his birthday until Angela's is over.
