Little Scholastic Review & Giveaway – Cole’s Book Club

If you’ve been keeping track, you’ll notice that I’m well on my way to giving away enough books for all 8 nights of Hanukkah this year – especially when you factor in my giveaway today. Yup! That’s right! Not only do I have my winners announcement for The Robot Book, but I have another great offering! YAY! Books for everyone! Hooray for literacy!

Sorry. I got carried away.

First things first – I have some winners to announce! The following lucky, lucky readers will each win a copy of The Robot Book:

Lisa, whose favorite children’s book is Pirates Don’t Wear Diapers (well, you know, until now)
Jiye, who loves The Giving Tree
WeeMasonMan’sMom, who’s a fan of Brown Bear, Brown Bear

So, ladies? Send a shout out to Mommy by Friday to claim your book – other wise we’ll have to pick a new name.

Moving on. Do you guys remember way back in, like 3rd grade, getting those thin paper booklets full of books you could order? Mommy always looked forward to checking out which Scholastic Book Club books she’d order – and, as a teacher, she gained an appreciation for the company from another perspective.

And now? I get to find a love for Scholastic for my own… and they sent me free books, which is certainly a great start!

Little Scholastic
sent me Numbers and Zoo to read and they rapidly became two of my favorites. If you come to my house, it;s a pretty sure bet that I will bring one of them over to you and yell “Book. BOOK!” until you relent and read it to me. You will all bend to my toddler whims.

Ahem.

Numbers, as the name implies, is a counting book. From one soft caterpillar and two bumpy frogs to five sparkly fish, each page has a given number of animals with tactile details. What I like about this book is that the touchy-feely bits are evenly spread out – some of my other interactive books are not so good: the fuzzy or scratchy or bumpy parts are only on a teeny part of the pictures. In Numbers, every one of the three woolly sheep is appropriately soft.

Zoo also has animals in it (duh!), but no numbers. Instead, the animals are paired with colors. “The lion is orange,” “The panda is black,” etc. What’s unique about Zoo is that each page has a pull out flash card of the color – and they all fit together to make a colorful peacock! You know what toddlers like almost as much as books? Puzzles!

Both Numbers and Zoo are short enough to read over and over and over and over – don’t they sound great? Guess what? TWO of you guys will win BOTH books!

Here’s How:

  1. To enter, fill in the form below telling me your pick for a child’s holiday gift. That’s it! While I certainly wouldn’t mind if you voted for me or tweeted with me, or liked me on Facebook, you don’t need to do any of that – unless you want to!
  2. For an extra entry, tweet about my giveaway. Feel free to use the sample tweet, or make up one of your own, but be sure to include a link back here and the hashtag #ColesBookClub. You can tweet once per day and each tweet will be counted as one additional entry. (You don’t need to come back and comment or anything – the tweet itself is your entry.)
