Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo: Toy Review Tuesday

I’m so excited to review my jumperoo today – it is the BEST TOY EVER! Even at my most cranky, the jumperoo can cheer me up for a few minutes.

Fisher-Price
has this to say about it: “A place full of wonderful sights and sounds…the Rainforest Jumperoo brings it all down to size for little explorers! Still tons of safe jumping fun (which will activate rainforest music and lights!), but now there are toys all around the rainforest—and overhead—with a spinning seat that helps baby explore them all. This baby jumper features a bobbing elephant, swinging monkey, spinning lizard and more that baby will just “go wild” for! Baby spins drum to activate lights and music (Mom can activate for four minutes of continuous play). The baby jumper’s soft spring covers keep little fingers safe and three-position height adjustment ensures a custom fit for your child. Requires 3 “AA” batteries for toy tray (not included).

I agree with almost everything. The bright colors keep my attention, and I recognize my animal friends from my bouncy seat and my crib soother. I love that the chair spins around easily so I can access all of the cool toys around the rim; there’s even a little tray to hold my binky! One of the toys that I’m most interested in lights up and makes noises when I bounce – sometimes it only reacts for about 10 seconds, but sometimes it goes off for 4 minutes, depending on the setting Mommy puts it on. There is also a volume control for that so my jungle sounds don’t get too noisy. The toys that hang above me (a bird and a frog) encourage me to jump up and try to grab at them, and they don’t swing too low in my face and bother me.

There are a few things that, if improved, would make this toy even better – hey, nothing’s perfect! But the one from https://skytechlasers.com/led-shop-lights/ could totally have changed the toddler’s mood. The height adjustment that’s supposed to ensure a “custom fit” doesn’t quite hang low enough for me to touch the floor so Mommy has to put a pillow or a box underneath to help me; I hope I grow into the lowest setting soon! Also, Mommy would like if the seat cover were vinyl or something like that so it could be more easily wiped down – I tend to drool when I get excited… and even when I’m bored… I pretty much drool all the time, actually. Finally, Daddy wishes my precious jumperoo was just a little bit smaller – he manages to stub his toe every time he walks by it; he also thinks that maybe the middle of the living room is not the best spot for it, but we can’t figure out where else to put it since it does take up a bit of space.

My biggest complaint is that Mommy only lets me play in my jumperoo for about 20 minutes at a time, once or twice a day. Apparently there are some newer studies that show spending too much time in a jumperoo/exersaucer/walker type thing can lead to hip dysplasia. I have really strong legs and my pediatrician says it is okay in moderation, but is something for you to think about if you’re considering getting one.

All in all, I *highly* recommend the jumperoo! I love it!

On a side note, Mommy had an astonishing number of jumping themed songs for me to choose a soundtrack from… I liked Brian Setzer’s Jump, Jive, and Wail and House of Pain’s Jump Around, Destiny’s Child’s Jumpin’ Jumpin’ didn’t quite fit, but I laughed out loud when I heard Jump, so that was clearly my choice. Maybe I should start wearing my clothes backwards, too…
