We are lost and sick at heart…

We Remember Them…

In the rising of the sun and in its going down,
We remember them;

In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter,
We remember them;

In the opening of buds and in the warmth of summer,
We remember them;

In the rustling of leaves and the beauty of autumn,
We remember them;

In the beginning of the year and when it ends,
We remember them;

When we are weary and in need of strength,
We remember them;

When we are lost and sick at heart,
We remember them;

When we have joys we yearn to share,
We remember them;

So long as we live, they too shall live
For they are now a part of us as
We remember them.

There are no adequate words to help process the news out of Newtown today, and so I won’t attempt beyond this: as a mother, I am heartbroken and sickened, and completely grief-stricken for the families of the children involved.  Not only those who were killed, but the entire community who have been robbed of innocence and their feeling of safety. In my Facebook feed, there are countless mothers hugging their children extra close tonight, myself among them.

I need to find an outlet beyond squeezing my bewildered 3-year-old, who cannot comprehend why his Mommy is suddenly super-clingy, though.  My Google searches have been fruitless thus far, but I will use this space to compile links for relevant charities. If anyone knows of another burial fund, or something similar, please leave me information in the comments.

“We plan to allocate all the money collected to a memorial fund to honor the victims and to the families to help pay for the funeral costs for their loved ones.”
