Chicken Nuggets? No, thank you.

I’m not even going to mention that it snowed again.

Oops.

Well, since I’ve already brought it up… Yesterday was Daddy’s third snow day this year (which means if we get any more he starts losing bits and pieces of spring break). He remembers when snow days were a welcome break: a relaxing day spent sleeping in, snuggling under the covers, and maybe reading a good book.

Our snow day views don’t exactly align.

Anyway, yesterday’s snow day meant the library was closed, which meant no storytime, which meant I wasn’t *really* into taking a nap, which meant that by 5:00 Mommy and Daddy were ready to get out of the house. By that time the roads were pretty clear, and the next storm wasn’t set to hit until later at night, so we ventured out for dinner. A gift card from Christmas pointed us in the direction of Cheesecake Factory and off we went.

I started out with calamari…

Despite the look on my face, calamari was a big hit – I ate half a dozen pieces all by myself!

…and continued with a beet and goat cheese salad. (Well, I don’t love arugula, but beets and apples and pecans? Yum.)

What? Not typical toddler fare?

  1. Cole Cole Cole, you eat WAY fancier than I do! I am impressed!

  2. I LOVE IT!! Thank you for not subscribing to the myth that kids' fare is pizza and chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. I mean, not that that's not necessarily a bad thing in moderation, but people seem to think that's what “kids' menus” at restaurants always need to contain. Ugh.

  3. Wow – I'm impressed with the calamari! Go Cole!!

  4. We have taken DZ to the Cheesecake Factory. He prefers to charms the wait staff, instead or eating. As a matter of fact, he learned to fist bump from our waitress the last time we were there.
