Rejuvenation

This weekend was the first weekend in over TWELVE weeks that we had no real plans. No grad school work for Daddy, no play rehearsal for Mommy, no parties planned, or holiday events scheduled; 48+ hours of unstructured family time.

We started with my favorite Friday night routine; we had yummy dinner at Panera (macaroni & cheese FTW!) and then walked down to Barnes & Noble for some stories. We stopped in to browse in Marshall’s on the way (a whole new section of toddler boys Polo stuff! Mommy has visions of a very preppy summer), and stopped for Starbucks for Mommy and Daddy on the way back to the car.

On Saturday, we went to the zoo Petsmart, and then on to BJ’s with Grammy Boo. I know, I know – not the most exciting morning in the world, but we stocked up on some snacks for me, and were not rushing to finish chores before we had to run to some appointment or other. We got home and I played with Daddy while Mommy took a nap. (A nap! On a weekend afternoon!) We capped off a great day with dinner at Uncle David and Aunt Angela’s house.

This weekend was also the Knickerbocker Ice Festival, so we checked that out on Sunday with Michele and Max and Taylor!

We tested out the Boba that Wendie and Mason loaned us, which was *awesome* since the paths were slushy and muddy and uneven. Not sure if Daddy is a convert, but Mommy sure is – even though she didn’t use it…

Do you see that?! THAT is a mid-day nap happening. A NAP which continued through the walk back to the car and a portion of lunch!

Speaking of lunch… We went to Rick’s Club American and got to sit in the animal room.

Finally, I went grocery shopping with Daddy (I got to drive the grocery cart car!) and went to bed early after a terrific weekend. Bring on the next three months of craziness – we are all set now!
