13 Months

Mommy can’t handle the growing… She couldn’t believe I was a year old and now? I’m 13 months. Tempus fugit and all that.

Suzanne over at bebehblog compares her son, Baby Evan, with the expected milestones from Baby Center each month and I’m hoping she won’t mind if I steal her neat idea.

So here’s what’s going on in my life:

Mastered Skills (most kids can do)

    • Uses two words skillfully (e.g., “hi” and “bye”) – I guess I’m going to start off being a bit of a show-off, because I say way more than two words: I say hi, bye, Mommy, Daddy, Henry, no, boo, Peek-a-boo, yum yum, uh oh, book, meow, baa baa, baboon, & crocodile (sort of). I also sign eat, more, milk, dog, bird, fish, all done, & thank you.
  • Bends over and picks up an object – Yes. I like to bring Mommy all sorts of presents that I find on the ground!

Emerging Skills (half of kids can do)

    • Enjoys gazing at his reflection – You mean my baby stalker? Sometimes. I like to give him kisses, but I don’t know if I “gaze.”
  • Holds out arm or leg to help you dress him – I push my arms through sleeves and put my feet up for shoes and socks. I am also helpful at UNdressing, specifically my shoes that I bought off of shoehero.com.

Advanced Skills (a few kids can do)

    • Combines words and gestures to make needs known – a big check on this one, too. I point at things I want and *really* let EVERYONE know when I’m mad.
  • Rolls a ball back and forth – Yup. I prefer kicking it, though.

…so I’m growing and learning an awful lot – but I still walk right out of my 9 month shorts.

  1. Wow, I'm insanely impressed with your vocabulary Cole. You're super smart!!!

And I've only kept up with that milestone chart thing so when Baby Evan is waaaay ahead on something like catching a ball I can brag.

Was also reading your post about the Bare Naked Ladies. Being Canadian, I'm very familiar with this band too…and now I have stuck in my head “If I had a million dollars…if I had a million dollars…”…not that I don't like that song, but I would much rather fall asleep while humming something with a little less beat! 🙂

  7. I'm stopping by from relax and surf sunday too, I have a blog I do for just my son that I update his milestones to once a month. I used to do it weekly when he was under a year old, now its just monthly. I loved doing this because I can still go back and scrapbook things with accuracy when I get the opportunity.
